Centre Overview

Westfield Chartwell is situated 5km from the centre of Hamilton. Hamilton is New Zealand’s largest inland city and the major commercial and industrial centre in one of the New Zealand's richest agricultural areas.

In 2006, Westfield Chartwell completed the retail component of a NZ$40 million redevelopment, adding new stores, a food court, an expanded Countdown supermarket and extra parking.

In May 2007 a six-screen SKYCITY cinema complex opened at the centre. This is now EVENT Cinemas.

In 2009 Westfield announced a commitment to an NZ$33 million expansion of the centre, which commenced in January 2010. After a 10 month construction period on Thursday 21 October of 2010, Farmers opened a new two level department store joined by a significant number of headlining fashion brands including the first Country Road store for the Waikato region.
